This blog was a more relaxed assignment, with minimal expectation. I enjoyed this because it let me expand my writing techniques and style. I’m not used to writing in blog form, which led me to use a variety of different writing styles through out this assignment.

Music was a great topic to blog about. This topic was so broad that I could write about anything, which was awesome. Having a variety of different people, bands, genres, etc allowed plenty of room for creativity. My blog consists of many different types of musicians/ artists, which gave my blog character. Music has many different areas that can be covered, from the politics of music, to the musicians themselves. Researching this material helped develop my initial arguments about my subject. Without research, my blogs wouldn’t have the credibility needed to convince the reader. The use of images or videos also worked well as supporting material. This allowed the reader to better understand the issue at hand, which my blog is discussing.

All in all the information and experience I gained from blogging throughout this semester was shocking. I never thought a weekly blog would improve my writing and thought process so well.

Every year our family has a Christmas party at our house. We invite all of our family and friends to drink heavily while listening to Christmas music. This party is the best because after dinner and when everyone gets in the holiday spirit, Collin and his family knock on our door. They make our house their last stop, and they all come party and sing.  Drastically, like some one turned on the lights, the whole living room breaks out into song. Everyone fills their cups with soda, and sings the night away.

Our family and friends are what make this time of year so entertaining. Without getting together with everyone, our holiday season would have no significant meaning. We wouldn’t be able to sing Christmas songs, because there would be nobody to sing with. We wouldn’t have anybody caroling at our door without the friendship of our neighbors. I am excited to see my family and friends during this years holiday season, but am more excited to see everyone sing at the top of their lungs in my living room.

We arrived at Stubbs at 7:15. Once we got there, we made our ways to the refreshment stands. We got something to drink, because we had a long ride from Ft. Worth and were parched.  Once we got our drinks, we made our way to the front of the stage. We got there early so we were at the front of the stage. This greatly enhanced our view, and overall outlook of Deadmau5 at the end of the concert.

Once Deadmau5 started playing, the whole venue was jumping. He captured the audience with his laser light shows and strobe lights. He also had a “trance screen” which was an LED panel that flashed different lights and images. Deadmau5’s lights were perfectly computed to flash with the beat. This was the essence of the show.

I really liked Deadmau5 because the crowd was wild, and everyone was partying. Deadmau5 was the best concert I have ever been to and I am definitely going to see him next time I can.  I recommend that everyone who reads my blog go to a deadmau5 concert before they die.

Obama wore a Chicago White Sox jacket with blue jeans and tennis shoes while on the mound. Although some people think that he was dresses appropriately, I on the other hand think that he should have worn something a little more formal. Obama should have worn a suit or at least have had a tie on while at the game. This way he would not have set fourth the nonchalant appearance he did, when our country is at an all time low economically and socially. A president should always be in formal attire when in public. This sets some type of precedent that our country has to adhere to. When the president of the United States sets a low standard, it says something about the people following him. This is important in the eyes of outside countries. If the president wore FUBU and Sean Jean while meeting with foreign leaders, they would think the United States is full of a bunch of uneducated nimrods. If I go to school wearing an inappropriate t-shirt, I am representing my family in that manner. People wonder why their parents would drop their kid off at school dressed like that. People jump to conclusions about people they don’t know anything about. This is why it is important to set a standard and meet up to that standard when in the publics eyes.

Flavor Flave’s unique style and attitude is being detrimental to his ethos. He acts like a child on national television, while wearing a clock around his neck and a crown on his head. Flave is ridiculous and that is why people like his show so much. The audience’s reaction after watching an episode of flavor of love is jaw dropping. People are laughing at Flave and the women on his show, not with them. This is sad because a person should not earn their fame in this way. But Flavor Flave did so in the publics eye.

After I first saw his show I didn’t think that there were people in this world that acted in such a manner, but I was wrong. His credibility to Outsiders (people who don’t like Flave) has to be pretty low. They most likely would agree that he is an uneducated gangster. Although he was a successful rap artist, it is hard to think positively about Flave after watching his show. His childish actions depict him as a fool on national television. Flave’s etiquette is sloppy and immature which makes the show even funnier because it is a dating show. Why would a person sign up to be on this show? Who would anyone want to date Flavor Flave? These questions are easily answered. People sign up to get on TV; being in the spotlight is what creates fame. This is exactly what Flave did when he was with Public Enemy. He would dress and act weird, which made him interesting to viewers. Flave is somewhat of an entrepreneur in acting like an idiot. People have used many of his techniques to create fame as well, for example: Johnny Knoxville, and the Jackass crue. They got famous by acting weird and doing weird stunts. Although this may not be as pathetic as Flave, it makes since.

An insiders (people who like Flave) point of view has to be not as harsh but mildly similar to the ethos of an outsider. An insider likes Flave and his show not because he is smart or the attractive women on his show, but because of the ridiculous drama and scenes that the show has to offer. Flave is responsible for these shenanigans because without his presence, there would be zero conflict. I like the show because it is pathetically entertaining. Flave’s personality it awesome to analyze because he doesn’t realize what he looks and sounds like on TV. My Analysis makes him and the show that much funnier. Although Flave didn’t realize his stupidity while he was in the spotlight, this is what ignited and fueled his fame. Now after two seasons of Flavor of Love, I think Flave finally realized his image in the public’s eyes. I hope Flave realizes this and reinvents himself for the future.

This is such scary video to watch around Halloween and or on a gloomy fall night. The video is famous because Michael Jackson is the man, and was the king of Pop. It is cool that Michael made the music video for thriller this way. The choreography consists of interpretive dance associated with the lyrics of the song. The spooky goules and goblins scare me so much I have to cover my eyes. The time and money the producers spent making this film had to be extraordinary.

Michael’s everyday mannerisms and attitude fit the video well. It was as if acting was second nature to Michael. He looks and sounds innocent, but in the end he is a creepy zombie. Michael’s zombie character in the video mildly reflects the transformation Michael had made throughout his life.  Although Michael Jackson is no longer with us today, we remember him through his talent and the mark he stamped in history.
